The European association for quality in general practice/family medicine

The aim of the group is to stimulate quality development in general practice. This is the youngest of the three important European network organisations. It was established in 1991 by Professor Richard Grol in cooperation with WONCA.

The working methods are:

  • to identify methods already used to improve quality of care in general practice
  • to develop scientific valid methods to fulfill the task
  • contributions to debate, information exchange and education on the concept of quality development in general practice
  • stimulating network building among general practitioners and other people in different countries, who have practical experience with or who work scientifically with quality assurance and quality development.

The working methods in the organisation is:

  • running two annual meetings, where two or three delegates from each member country meet for 2-3 days to exchange information, run workshops and write papers and reports on progress in each country.
  • the delegates work closely together with national colleges and academies for General Practice/Family Medicine, who often elect the delegates and pay their expenses.
  • to arrange conferences and workshops on quality assurance. This is either done separately or in cooperation with the other two network organisations or Wonca Europe.
  • arranging international European summer schools on different aspects of quality assurance.
