Join the Wonca Family

There are three types of Wonca membership for organizations wishing to join as a member: Full Membership, Associate Membership, and Organization in Collaborative Relations. The type of membership and fees payable would be determined by the nature of your organization and whether it fulfils the criteria for Wonca membership.

As Wonca is a single organization, your Association would simultaneously join "Wonca World and Wonca Europe".

In brief, the types of membership and fees payable are as follows:

Wonca Full Membership entitles the organization to all the privileges of Wonca including voting at its World Council meetings and election of its members to the position of 'Officer of Wonca'.
A "full member" is one who pays the regular membership subscriptions to your organization, but excludes those who pay less than half of the regular subscription.

Wonca Associate Membership entitles the organization to all the privileges of Wonca, but not voting at its World Council meetings and election of its members to the position of 'Officer of Wonca'.

To calculate the amount of fees payable in either category, you would multiply the number of full members by the US$ amount per full member.

Organization in Collaborative Relations entitles the organization to have observer status only at Wonca World Council Meetings. No fees are payable for this category of membership.

Become a Direct Member!

When Wonca first began, there were family doctors who expressed a desire to belong to Wonca individually, although they were already indirect members through their national college or academy. So the category of Individual Direct Membership was created, which enables family doctors to associate directly with Wonca. Its popularity has surpassed all expectations; there are now over 1,500 Direct Members in over 80 countries.

You can become a Direct Member by paying a modest subscription. For the Application Form, click here for a Microsoft Word document or click here for an Adobe Acrobat PDF version. You will receive an attractive Certificate of Membership suitable for framing, a lapel pin which displays the Wonca logo, 6 issues yearly of Wonca's Newsletter, Wonca News, substantial discounts in registration fees at Wonca conferences, discounts on Wonca publications and journals, a CD Directory of Members sent to you annually, and Wonca corporate gifts at special prices. Some Direct Members have asked to be listed on the Online Directory below. The Directory has proved to be a great source of information about family doctors around the world, their special interests, and how to contact them. This rapidly growing international network has become a strong interactive fellowship of doctors with a common interest in general practice/family medicine and all its variants.

Recognition at Wonca conferences
At Wonca World and Regional Conferences, you will receive special recognition as a Direct Member of Wonca, and in many instances, reduced registration fees.
