Join the WONCA family
There are three types of Wonca
membership for organizations wishing to join as a member: Full
Membership, Associate Membership, and Organization in Collaborative
Relations. The type of membership and fees payable would be determined
by the nature of your organization and whether it fulfils the criteria
for Wonca membership.
As Wonca is a single organization, your
Association would simultaneously join "Wonca World and Wonca Europe".
In brief, the types of membership and fees payable are as follows:
Wonca Full Membership
entitles the organization to all the privileges of Wonca including
voting at its World Council meetings and election of its members to the
position of 'Officer of Wonca'. The Subscription fee for Full
Membership of Wonca World and Wonca Europe in 2005 is
US$2.85 per full member
of your organization. A "full member" is one who pays the regular
membership subscriptions to your organization, but excludes those who
pay less than half of the regular subscription.
Wonca Associate Membership
entitles the organization to all the privileges of Wonca, but not voting
at its World Council meetings and election of its members to the
position of 'Officer of Wonca'. The subscription fee in 2005 for
Associate Membership in Wonca World and Wonca Europe is
US$2.05 per full member
of your organization.
To calculate the amount of fees payable in either category, you would
multiply the number of full members by the US$ amount per full member.

Become a Direct Member!
Since WONCA first began, there were
family doctors who wanted to belong to WONCA individually, although they
were already indirect members through their national college or academy.
So the category of Direct Membership was created, which enables
individual family doctors to associate directly with WONCA. Its
popularity has surpassed all expectations; there are now over 1,400
Direct Members (323 from Region Europe) from 75 countries.
What you get
When you
join you receive an attractive Certificate of Membership suitable
for framing and a lapel pin which displays the WONCA logo. A tie
designed exclusively for Direct Members is available for purchase for
US$15.
Each year, you receive six issues of
WONCA's Newsletter, WONCA News, and two issues of the magazine,
The Family Doctor. The journal
Family Practice: an international journal, published by
Oxford University Press every two months, is available to Direct
Members at a 50% discount.
A Directory of Direct Members of
WONCA is sent to Direct Members annually. It has proved to be a great
source of information about family doctors around the world, their
special interests, and how to contact them. This rapidly growing
international network has become a strong interactive fellowship of
doctors with a common interest in general practice/family medicine and
all its variants. Some use the Directory to provide their travelling
patients with overseas contacts. Others find it useful to identify
doctors in other countries with similar interests, whom they can visit.
As many are now on email, communication has become easy and convenient.
Recognition at WONCA conferences
At WONCA World and Regional
Conferences, you will receive special recognition as a Direct Member of
WONCA, and in many instances, reduced registration fees.
