The new Wonca Europe targets

Dear Colleagues,

This letter is to ask you to ensure that the attached questionnaire is completed using the “Key Informant” methodology[1], so that WONCA Europe can prepare a definitive database on the state of family medicine implementation in our region.  The process is being supervised by Professor Christos Lionis (Greece) on behalf of WONCA Europe Executive.

We ask you to identify two experts on family medicine in your country to complete the questionnaire (one of which could be yourself).  They should be capable of giving an authoritative opinion, should complete the questionnaire independently, without comparing responses with each other, or communicating directly.  The questionnaire should be returned to (envelopes enclosed):

The responses will be analysed and where there is agreement that data will be accepted.  Where there are differences the two experts will be invited to comment on the differing responses to seek a consensus.  If they remain in disagreement then further evidence will be sought to confirm the correct interpretation. In this way very reliable data can be obtained from a relatively small survey.

This procedure was approved by WONCA Europe Council at its meeting in Amsterdam and we thank you for agreeing to assist in this way. We ask that your reply is returned by April 10th 2005.
