Background.
The centre was opened in 2003. in Doboj primary health care (PHC) by decision of the Ministry of Health to increase capacity to educate health professionals in FM. The centre is covering Doboj region with population of 280000, seven PHC centres (PHCCs). Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation provides financial support, Geneva University Hospital - Foundation Partnerships in Health expertise in building of local human capacities and development of monitoring and evaluation tools.
Methods.
To show work of the centre analyses of participants applications, reports on learning and legislative documents are used. Academic year education has curriculum unique for Country. Education has theoretical part and praxis revisions. In practical part supervisors are facilitating implementation at working places of participants. FM Cathedra from Banja Luka Medical faculty is supervising body.
Results.
122 nurses and 87 doctors from 14 PHCCs have completed education until 2006. Final exam is organized by FM Cathedra. Teams of local coordinators and supervisors and teachers were formed in three years period. The centre is used for other trainings and continuing medical education. The centre supported opening of Foca centre.
Conclusions.
Official authorities have positively assessed work of centre. Due to high interest participants from two other regions were included after the first year. Education led to implementation in all involved PHCCs. It is necessary to define ways of financing after the project to use the existing capacities and enable centre future work.
