Id 1323 Adipocytokine And Visceral Obesity In Myocardial Infarction Patients

Aim(s) or purpose: Inflammation is one of the important cardiovascular risk factors. Adiponectin, leptin, IL-6 and IL-10 are considered to take part in the regulation of energy metabolism. We investigated the relationship between the adipocytokines and regional adiposity, cardiovascular risk factors in myocardial infarction patients.
Design and method: 64 myocardial infarction in-patients participated in this study. We measured metabolic profile, adiponectin, leptin, IL-6 and IL-10. Abdominal fat distribution was determined by computed tomography.
Results: Adiponectin was positively correlated with High-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Leptin was positively correlated with low density lipoprotein cholesterol. IL-10 was positively correlated with body mass index, body fat, waist hip ratio, total fat area and subcutaneous fat area.
Conclusions: Adiponectin was positively correlated with IL-6 in myocardial infarction patients.
