Introduction: The main goal of healthcare system is offering the highest quality of healthcare services possible to as many people that need them, within given environment of social, material, financial, and human resources. Achieving this goal requires committed and high quality workforce in the healthcare sector. Staffs job satisfaction is the fundamental component of human resources quality. Quality of human resources in early stages of development should be uncompromised by Healthcare establishment.
Aim of the study: To evaluate the level of job satisfaction among the staffs of one University hospital of Lodz.
Material and Methods: Descriptive study comprising of all staff members of one Hospital in Lodz (n=337). Questionnaire consisted of four sections: demographic data, work arrangements in the unit and management attitudes, relations between colleagues and their immediate superiors and working environment. Job satisfaction was measured by a single item with a 5-point response scale (1-very dissatisfied to 5 - very satisfied).
Results: Overall average ratings of job satisfaction was 7 out of every 10 are quite satisfied (74.2%). There were differences in satisfaction models between categories of personnel. In addition, the hospital as a whole showed higher rates of job satisfaction were positively correlated with variables, but there were significant differences in the correlations between job satisfaction and the independent variables among the groups of personnel.
Conclusions: The study suggests that executives of healthcare institutions that are informed about the expectations and daily work-related problems of their employees are better able to understand the needs of their employees.
