Zoster is a common diagnosis, and its prevalence increases with age and states of immunodeficiency. Two main vaccines to prevent zoster are currently available – Zoster live attenuated vaccine, and zoster recombinant vaccine. In this talk we will discuss the clinical presentation of zoster, its various, sometimes life threatening, complications, and the two available vaccines: their efficacy in clinical trials and the populations for which they are indicated.
