Dr Susanna Onanyan - WONCA Europe Montegut Scholar 2020

WONCA Europe is proud to announce the winner of the WONCA Europe Montegut Global Scholars Program 2020, Dr Susanna Onanyan from Armenia.

The Montegut Global Scholars Program (MGSP) was established by the American Board of Family Medicine Foundation in April 2010 to foster international education, research and collaboration in the specialty of family medicine.

The program supports the attendance of one family physician from each of the seven regions of the international organization of family physicians (WONCA) to their regional meetings or to the international meeting in the year that it is held.

About Dr Susanna Onanyan:

Susanna Onanyan finished Yerevan State Medical Institute and got specialized in Oncology in 1984. She worked as an oncologist in outpatient clinic for 18 years, often engaged in palliative care for her patients. Since 1997, Armenia has been introducing Family Medicine as a new discipline thanks to the Word Bank-supported health care program. She found herself highly interested in the concept of Family Medicine, passed re-training and became one of the first Family Medicine trainers at National Institute of Health of MOH of Armenia. Dr Onanyan acquired her knowledge and skills via many international trainings in different countries (Norway, Austria, Sweden, Spain, Egypt, etc.). She is also involved in writing and/or updating the protocols on Screening and Patient Management at PHC. Dr Onanyan has trained a vast number of polyclinic physicians and nurses and mentored them to become Family Doctors and Family Nurses.
