EYFDM STATEMENT ON THE CONFLICT IN THE MIDDLE EAST
We, the European Young Family Doctors Movement (EYFDM), stand united in condemning violence inflicted upon healthcare professionals, patients, and healthcare facilities amidst the tragic conflict in Israel, Gaza and the wider Middle East. Attacks on doctors, patients, and hospitals are a violation of the values we uphold as medical professionals.
Healthcare professionals dedicate their lives to serving others, often at great personal risk, bound by an ethical commitment to care for all people without prejudice. In times of crisis, these values are more essential than ever, as our work transcends political and ideological divides, prioritising health, humanity, and compassion above all.
We consider that all parties involved in this conflict should respect healthcare spaces and ensure the safety and protection of all healthcare workers and the patients they serve. Hospitals, clinics, and medical personnel are neutral and must remain untouched by the violence that surrounds them.
EYFDM expresses its deepest solidarity with our colleagues and all individuals affected by conflict, reaffirming our commitment to uphold the principles of care, empathy, and respect for human life.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: 64th EQuiP CONFERENCE IN LINZ, AUSTRIA
We are pleased to announce that the 64th EQuiP Conference will take place in Linz, Austria, from 8–10 May 2025. You can view the preliminary Conference Programme here.
This year’s theme is "Quality and Safety in Family Medicine: The Impact of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Family Medicine." As digitalisation and AI continue to reshape healthcare, we will explore how these innovations are improving patient care, enhancing safety, and streamlining healthcare processes in family medicine. Alongside this theme, we will also address traditional EQuiP topics, including Professional Health, Planetary Health, and Quality of Care.
Abstract Submission
We invite you to submit abstracts for the following presentation formats:
Oral Presentation: Presentations will be 5 minutes long, including Q&A. This format is ideal for presenting new projects or processes in a structured, clear way. We encourage the use of animated slides. Methodologically complex contributions or result discussions are better suited for other formats.
Workshop: Workshops will be 60 minutes and include multiple presentations along with interactive activities. We recommend keeping introductions and presentations brief (5–10 minutes) to maximise time for delegate interaction, including group work and open discussions. Workshops are also an excellent opportunity to explore differences in healthcare systems and train practical skills.
Poster Presentation: Posters will be displayed during the conference, and authors are invited to present their work during the Poster Walk on Friday 16:00–17:00.
ePoster: ePosters are submitted digitally and will be displayed on the EQuiP website. These will not be presented orally, but a discussion area will allow delegates and authors to interact. Only registered delegates will have their ePosters displayed. The virtual poster hall will open when the conference begins.
The deadline for abstract submission is 31 January 2025.
Registration
Registration for the 64th EQuiP Conference is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with limited spots. Early bird registration is open until 3 March 2025, with fees starting at €150 for EQuiP members. The full registration fee structure, including options for students, members, and low-income country delegates, can be found on the conference website. We recommend registering early to take advantage of reduced rates and to secure your place.
We look forward to seeing you in Linz!
