HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 9TH EYFDM FORUM

From 25–27 April, over 200 early-career family doctors gathered for the 9th European Young Family Doctors’ Movement (EYFDM) Forum — a truly unique event that unfolded across three countries: Luxembourg, Germany, and France. This vibrant forum celebrated the future of family medicine at the very heart of Europe.

Across three dynamic days, participants engaged in cutting-edge plenaries, hands-on workshops, and inspiring presentations. Keynote sessions explored powerful themes such as breaking gender bias in medical research and practice, embracing the joys and challenges of general practice, navigating diverse career journeys in family medicine, and leading the way with low-carbon consultations.

The energy didn’t stop there. Through participant-led sessions, we tackled real-world challenges and shared the latest evidence shaping our field. Topics ranged from the art of delegation ("I can’t do everything!") and gender identity medicine, to promoting physician wellbeing, integrating AI into lifestyle medicine, and addressing culture and mental health in clinical practice.

Beyond the academic programme, the Forum’s vibrant social schedule offered rich opportunities for networking, personal growth, and cultural immersion — showcasing the best of three nations. Many attendees also had the chance to visit local family medicine practices, gaining valuable insights into diverse models of patient-centered care. A family-friendly approach to the Forum aimed to keep everyone involved!

As we reflect on an inspiring few days, excitement is already building for what's next: the Young Family Doctors’ preconference at WONCA World in September, and the 10th EYFDM Forum set for 30–31 January 2026 (see above!)

We can’t wait to see you there!
