The asthma diagnosis jigsaw puzzle: an adaptable teaching concept to facilitate the diagnosis of asthma in adults and children presenting to primary care

The asthma diagnosis jigsaw puzzle concept, first published in our Desktop Helper No. 15, was created through a multidisciplinary consensus process with academics and primary care clinicians. This peer-reviewed paper describes the process of development and explains how it can be used as a teaching concept for primary care that incorporates the problem-solving and non-linear approach that the best primary care uses for diagnosis over time of adults or children with asthma. Please share this paper with your colleagues. A full teaching pack including case studies is nearing completion and will be made available in the next few months.

Prevalence of asthma in Portuguese adults - the EPI-ASTHMA study, a nationwide population-based survey

After several years of preparation and implementation by our Portuguese colleagues, we are pleased to share the first paper on the Epi-Asthma study, a novel study in primary care using a stepwise diagnostic approach mirroring clinical practice to produce a clearer estimate of the prevalence of asthma in the Portuguese adult population and identify factors associated with a diagnosis. Congratulations to our colleagues who have worked on this study - read the full article below.

FRESHAIR4Life: publication news

We’re delighted to share that, following a webinar hosted by the WHO last year on integrating tobacco cessation into chronic respiratory disease care including Siân Williams, Darush Attar-Zadeh and Louise Restrick as panellists, a paper summarising the discussion and case studies is now published in BMJ Global Health. It features FRESHAIR4Life as a case study. Several FRESHAIR4Life  studies will be presented in Brasov, so come and learn more there!
