The WONCA Europe Executive Board met in Paris from 9 to 11 January for a face-to-face meeting and a meeting with HOC to advance preparations for the Paris 2026 conference.
The Board continues to focus on governance, finance, and network coordination.
A new candidate will support EU project administration, with an interview planned before the February EB meeting.
Financial reporting will focus on fiscal-year transactions, and research projects remain primarily for visibility.
Current initiatives include the WONCA Europe scholarship, the Montegut Global Scholar and Europe 5-Star Awards, webinars, and the development of the future plan and position papers. Six proposed bylaw amendments were reviewed.
Recognition of WESIG activities in the WONCA Europe conferences were discussed, and planning for the Core PCO and call for bids for 2029 is ongoing.
Jose M Bueno was elected European Health Alliance on Alcohol (EHAA) Governing Board member.
Website traffic continues to grow, social media activity remains stable, and upcoming webinars include a WE Talk with Dr Tara Kiran about OurCare: Co-designing the Future of Primary Care in Canada on 22 January at 17:00 CET, with members encouraged to participate.
Preparations for Ljubljana 2027 are progressing with committee formation and sponsorship opportunities, while updates for Istanbul 2028 are pending.
The Board will meet online monthly from February to June 2026, with face-to-face meetings in Paris on 29 June and in Heraklion, Crete from 6–8 November.
