The WONCA Europe Executive Board met online for its regular monthly meeting in May, reviewing ongoing activities and setting priorities for the months ahead. Discussions reflected strong engagement across the networks, with increased participation in recent events and continued momentum in preparations for the Paris conference, where registrations have already exceeded expectations.

Developments related to the European Journal of General Practice highlighted plans for future collaborations and special issues, alongside the importance of maintaining a balanced range of submissions.

Work on projects, policy advocacy, and collaborations continues to expand, including progress on a new policy briefing focused on healthy ageing.

Educational webinars remain a core activity, with several upcoming sessions planned, including a webinar on lifestyle medicine as a clinical tool for type 2 diabetes remission on 11 June 2026, followed by a session on antibiotics in pregnancy and lactation on 24 June 2026.

World Family Doctor Day on 19 May 202l focussed on the theme of compassionate care in a digital world, highlighting the balance between technological innovation and the human connection at the heart of family medicine. WONCA Europe will actively support the campaign by promoting the theme across its communication channels.

Looking ahead, preparations for the Council meeting in Paris are well underway, alongside key governance decisions on the selection of the core professional conference organiser and the evaluation of bids for the 2029 conference.
