Dear colleagues,
We are a short time after our 2nd WONCA Europe virtual conference. Our committees evaluate the conference and its various components, and we will share their report with you. It seems that meetings will stay virtual for a while and we have to look for new and innovative ways to attract more family doctors to attend our virtual conferences. In the right format, it could be an opportunity for a new audience to join our educational and scientific activities. Overtaking the barriers of travel and costs and having the chance to enter more sessions, as all sessions are recorded and available for extended periods.
For the coming months, we are planning to meet in “an informal” council meeting on the 11th of November 2011. It will be a virtual meeting where we will meet and update our council about our activities and plans. Later in November, we will meet again at the WONCA World council meeting and scientific conference – both will be virtual. In the World council meeting, the 2025 host for the WONCA World conference will be chosen, and it will be the first time that Wonca Europe with the Portuguese college is bidding.
The new wave of COVID-19 increases the workload in family medicine and affected many of us on their annual vacation plans. We now realize that the pandemic will stay with us for a while and it is important to rest, take our vacation, be with our families, and gain energy for the coming winter.
