Primary care physicians are the cornerstone of our healthcare system, and their ongoing education is crucial for maintaining high standards of patient care. Primary care physicians are the first point of contact for neuroendocrine cancer (NEN) patients when they experience symptoms. Delayed NEN diagnosis is an enduring global challenge. The mean time from first symptoms to diagnosis is approximately 5 years globally, with 46% of patients having stage IV NENs at time of diagnosis. We know that the early diagnosis is possible only if a GP “thinks” about NENs, when a repetitive or any persistent symptom exists.
The ultimate objective of Think NENs Educational Program for Primary Care Physicians is to increase awareness, to make PCPs think about NENs and to provide the latest knowledge and skills in detecting and managing NENs in primary care, including referral pathways, as a means to achieve timely disease diagnosis, optimal treatment and care, and better patient outcomes. This program is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
The Think NENs Global Educational Program for Primary Care Physicians represents 1 main module of 3 videos providing concise knowledge about neuroendocrine cancer diagnosis and managing patients via Q&A sessions between primary care physicians and neuroendocrine neoplasm (NEN) experts from around the world, as well as supplementary training – 13 videos on common NEN types, the impact of treatments and genetic NENs. Upon completion of the exam, the main module provides 1 UEMS-EACCME® credit. The program is available free of charge.
