University Professorship vacancy at the University Medical Center Göttingen

The University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) has the strategic aim to advance research in the key areas of neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine and oncology by integrating both translational and systems medicine approaches. Within the vibrant Göttingen Campus environment, the UMG is closely linked to University institutes of natural and biological sciences as well as other local research institutions, for example the Max Planck institutes.

An exciting opportunity has become available in the Department of General Practice of the UMG for a University Professorship (W2) General Practice/Family Medicine, with a special focus on Clinical Trials and Translation (Pay grade W2, limited term) tenable for 5 years and to commence as soon as possible.

Candidates should have demonstrated research expertise in the area of clinical trials and translational medicine, and the implementation and evaluation of current research results in patient care. Close collaboration with hospital departments and institutes at the UMG is strongly encouraged.

Applicants should hold the license to practice as a physician and have clinical experience at a specialist level. A “habilitation” / PhD or equivalent scientific qualification/experience in the field of general practice/family medicine or a similar discipline is desirable. Applicants to the Professorship should possess an independent research profile in the field of general practice/family medicine, patient-oriented clinical research or interventional health services research. Moreover, a sophisticated understanding of forging collaborative relationships and utilizing effective strategies to build and sustain effective partnerships is expected, for example with practice networks, and other professional groups. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in multi-disciplinary and multi-perspective environments. In addition, applicants to this position should have an enthusiasm for teaching as they will be expected to contribute to medical education. We also expect participation in academic bodies and committees.

The conditions for the appointment of professors are set out in § 25 of the current Lower Saxony Higher Education Act. The UMG reserves the right of appointment.
