WE at the WHO Europe and UNICEF strategy addressing the unprecedented health challenges children and adolescents face across the Region.

The WHO Regional Office for Europe and UNICEF are developing a comprehensive strategy to tackle health challenges children and adolescents face, emphasizing the need for urgent action due to stagnating or worsening health outcomes in the region, particularly exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Key issues include mental health problems affecting 1 in 4 children, high rates of overweight and obesity, and significant disparities in new-born mortality. The strategy aims to improve health outcomes through increased investment, strengthened health systems, and evidence-based interventions. At the same time, consultations with non-state actors are being organized to enhance advocacy and collaboration for child and adolescent health.
