Dear members of WONCA Europe,
This month, we celebrate family doctors day. Whether you have been involved with the vaccination programmes, working directly with covid patients or trying to keep the rest of the population healthy, we would like to take a moment to thank all our members for their hard work and dedication. We have also had to be parents, sons, daughters, husbands and wives to others during the pandemic and, devastatingly, some of us have lost colleagues, friends and family members at a time of social isolation. We recognise that this has been a hard year for everyone and a year like no other which makes this year's family doctor day more poignant.
Looking into the future, we need to think about how we can build back better and how we can support our teams, our patients, our systems and ourselves better. Join us at our virtual conference in Amsterdam to connect with us and each other to create a stronger primary care in the post covid world.

Presidents' Letter - World Family Doctor Day message from Prof. Shlomo Vinker
World Family Doctor Day was first declared by WONCA in 2010 and it has become a day to highlight the role and contribution of family doctors and primary care teams around the world. This day is a good opportunity to acknowledge the important role of Family Doctors in the delivery of personal, comprehensive, and continuing health care for patients and their families. It’s also a chance to thank you all for the hard work done coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. Professor Shlomo Vinker |

Wonca Europe series on Diabetes Mellitus
Wonca Europe is starting a new series of webinars on Diabetes Mellitus starting with the first webinar on May 28th, 2021 at 19:00 CEST. The first webinar titled: "The Heart and the Kidney – new game players in Type 2 Diabetes" will touch on the cardiorenal aspects in Type 2 Diabetes. The webinar will be presented by Prof Chantal Mathieu (Belgium) and Dr Baruch Itzak (Israel). The session will be moderated by Prof Josep Vilaseca. Registration to this and all the webinars in the series are free of charge. A certificate of participation will be provided to all attendees.
