President’s Corner
Dear Colleagues,
A few days ago, I returned from the 100th (one hundred) conference and anniversary of the European General Practice Research Network, the EGPRN. It was an opportunity to review what we achieved in a group established before WONCA, meetings that I have attended for almost 20 years. But the EGPRN is not alone. All the other Networks and Special Interest Groups of WONCA Europe are active and productive, strengthening family medicine in Europe.
This month we celebrated World Family Doctors' Day, and this year under the theme of "Building mental resilience in a changing world". Family doctors are uniquely positioned to promote mental wellness because they emphasize long-term relationships, continuity of care, and person-centered and patient-centered approaches. Our resilience as healthcare providers is no less critical than the resilience of our patients, it is therefore essential for us to also maintain our mental resilience.
Preparations for hosting the World Conference 2025 in Lisbon are progressing, and we have received a record number of abstracts for lectures and workshops. The scientific committee is currently working on building a program that will be interesting, diverse, and up-to-date.
Happy Family Doctors Day, and see you in Lisbon
Sincerely,
Prof. Shlomo Vinker
President of WONCA Europe
