ποΈ European Policy Developments
European Parliament – Health Workforce
The European Parliament has published a proposal linked to the ACERTA report on the health workforce, marking a step towards the final version. A number of amendments submitted by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are available here: ACERTA report
We will closely monitor the final publication and share it once available, with a view to jointly reflecting on potential advocacy actions related to our professional context.
Recognition of the Specialty
Efforts to advance the recognition of the specialty at European level continue. Slovenia has already submitted its documentation to the European Commission, and several member organisations are currently preparing their own submissions.
We anticipate reconvening in March to review progress and discuss next steps.
β€οΈ EU Cardiovascular Health Plan
The European Commission has recently presented the EU Cardiovascular Health Plan. While the full presentation is not yet publicly available, the main policy orientations can be consulted here : EU Cardiovascular Health Plan.
β οΈ During the presentation, primary care was not explicitly referenced. We raised the question of how primary care would be strengthened to better address cardiovascular health, but unfortunately no clear response was provided β
That said, primary care features prominently in the related OECD report π
