WE Talk with Prof Mehmet Ungan

WONCA Europe introduces "WE Talk", a short talk-show-like programme where a person of interest is interviewed. Prof Shlomo Vinker will be the host of the show.
Our first guest is Prof Mehmet Ungan. Mehmet Ungan is the past President of WONCA Europe, working as an active Professor at Ankara University School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine (FM) since 2011. He is also one of the Past Presidents of the European General Practice Research Network (EGPRN).
Graduated from Istanbul University (1987) School of Medicine, became a Family Medicine Specialist in 1993. He is one of the seven founders and former Presidents of the Turkish Association of Family Physicians. Currently he is a member of the Academic Board of Family Medicine (FM) in Turkey. He has been certified as a GP Trainer at the University of Exeter Postgraduate Medical School, UK. Has worked in internal medicine clinics in Essen/Germany, has been the Deputy Medical Director of the METU University for 18 years, and an advisor of the Ministry on FM/GP.
He has worked on the editorial boards of many PC journals. He was involved in organizing the 2 WONCA Europe and 5 EGPRN Conferences in Turkey. He is the founder of FM practices in Ankara since 1999, and in Istanbul since 2013. He has been a preferred family physician of the embassies and foreign missions including the USA, UK, Sweden, UN, International Organization of Migration (IOM) and International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC). In addition to authoring books and book chapters he has more than 100 printed articles cited.
He is now one of the candidates for WONCA World President.
