Montegut Scholar 2019 reports on the WONCA Europe Conference

WONCA Europe Montegut Scholar 2019 – Dr Snezana Knezevic, General practitioner, Health care centre Kraljevo, Serbia

This was the first time I attended a WONCA Europe conference.

I was very impressed. On the first day of WONCA Conference in Bratislava I was presented on the WONCA Europe Council meeting as the Montegut Global Scholar and was given the opportunity to share some words.

The opening ceremony was held at the Slovak National Theatre and included an impressive traditional Slovakian show. It was closed by Professor Amanda Howe where she discussed the problems of patients holistically, allowing them to express their ideas, concerns and expectations, and the need to acknowledge the background of a patient's problems and give them the hope of recovery. I kept thinking about this issue for days to come.

On the second day I had my poster presentation. One of my poster presentations was declared as best one, which made me very proud.

There were 67 different sessions running throughout the first full day – the mobile application was very helpful as I could choose the most interesting workshops, plenary lectures and sessions. The next two days had a similar number of sessions to choose from. If I could have, I would have attended all of them.

I would like to thank the American Board of Family Medicine Foundation’s Montegut Global Scholars Program for offering me this wonderful experience, to be a part WONCA Europe family,  the unforgettable closing ceremony, to gain new values, knowledge, ideas and the opportunity to meet dear new colleagues at the 2019 WONCA Europe Conference.
