Prof. Matyukha Larysa, RIP

We are deeply saddened to announce that on October 25, 2021, after a serious illness at the age of 65 years, Prof. Matyukha Larysa, passed away. She was a Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, President of the Ukrainian Association of Family Medicine, Head of the Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Clinic of the Institute of Family Medicine of the National Educational Institution of Ukraine named by P. Shupyk

Since 2012, she has been elected as a Head of the Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Care of the Institute of Family Medicine of the National Educational Institution of Ukraine named by P.Shupyk. Since 2000, she has been elected as a President of the Association of Family Physicians of Kyiv and Kyiv’s region. Since 2015, she has been elected as a President of the Ukrainian Association of Family Medicine. Professor Larisa Matyukha has made a significant contribution to the formation and development of family medicine in Ukraine. Hundreds of trainees follow the way she showed them in family medicine. She played an outstanding leading role in the development and organization of primary health care based on family medicine at the state level.

She was a member of WONCA Europe council and a member of EURACT. She was an example of the wise and polite leader, wonderful teacher and outstanding colleague and professional. She hosted many members of EURACT, EGPRN and WONCA Europe during annual international conferences for family doctors in Ukraine.

She was a head of the board of several journals in the field of family medicine.

Prof Matyukha was an author of more than 300 scientific publications and 17 monographs.

We deeply regret this irreparable loss and express our sincere condolences to our relatives and friends.
